Kosher Creole Seafood Gumbo

A traditional Cajun recipe for Kosher Creole Seafood Gumbo.

  • 1 Lge. onion, chopped
  • 1/2 Green pepper, chopped
  • 1 Clove garlic, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoon Veg. oil
  • 2 Tablespoon Flour
  • 1 Can Stewed tomatoes [15 oz.]
  • 1 Can Tomato paste [6 oz.]
  • 2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Basil leaves
  • 1 Pound Trout fillets
  • 1 Package Frozen sliced okra part thaw
  • 1/2 Pound Redfish fillets
  • 3 Cup Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 Cup Hot cooked rice

Instructions

    Saute vegs. slightly in oil in dutch oven.

    Stir in flour; blend well.

  3. 3

    Add remaining ingreds. except fish, okra and rice.

  4. 4

    Simmer covered for 30 min.

  5. 5

    Remove bay leaf.

  6. 6

    Add fish and okra.

  7. 7

    Cover and simmer additional 10 min., or until okra is tender.

  8. 8

    Serve in soup bowls or plates over hot rice.
