Herbs 'n Onion Pie

A savory impossible pie loaded with caramelized onions and crispy bacon, with a Bisquick-milk batter flavored with savory, basil, and parsley.

  • 3 whole large onions, sliced thin
  • 0.3 cup butter
  • 0.5 lb bacon, crisp fried and crumbled
  • 1 0.3 cup milk
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1 cup Bisquick
  • 0.3 tsp dried savory leaves
  • 0.3 tsp dried basil leaves
  • 0.3 tsp dried parsley leaves

Instructions

    Heat oven to 400F. Grease a 9-inch pie plate.

    Cook onions in butter in a 10-inch skillet, stirring frequently, until softened.

    Arrange half of the onions evenly in the pie plate. Sprinkle with half of the bacon. Top with remaining onions and bacon.

    Place milk, Worcestershire sauce, eggs, and Bisquick in a blender. Cover and blend on high for 15 seconds. Pour into plate.

    Mix herbs in a small bowl; crush slightly. Sprinkle evenly over milk mixture.

    Bake until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about 35 minutes.
