Emeril's Mint Julep

A classic Southern mint julep with muddled spearmint, simple syrup, crushed ice, bourbon, and a touch of Grand Marnier.

  • 7 each spearmint leaves
  • 1 tbsp simple syrup
  • 2 cup crushed ice
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 0.5 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 sprig fresh mint, for garnish

Instructions

    Put mint leaves and simple syrup in the bottom of a tall glass.

    With the handle of a wooden spoon, crush and mash the leaves to extract the flavor.

    Fill the glass with crushed ice.

  4. 4

    Pour in the bourbon and Grand Marnier.

  5. 5

    With a long-handled spoon, jiggle (don't stir) to chill and mix. Garnish with a sprig of mint and sip.
