  • 1 package active dry yeast (1 tbsp)
  • 3 tbsp. applesauce
  • 1 1/4 c. warm water (110 to 115 degrees)
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 c. unbleached flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. dark molasses
  • 2 c. whole wheat flour

    In large mixing bowl, DISSOLVE yeast in warm water

    ADD unbleached flour, salt, applesauce, honey, and molasses

    BEAT well

  4. 4

    STIR in whole wheat flour, blending well

  5. 5

    COVER, LET RISE 30 minutes

  6. 6

    PUNCH dough down

  7. 7

    SPOON batter into oil sprayed 2 1/2 inch muffin cups, filling 2/3 full

  8. 8

    BAKE in 375° oven for 10–15 minutes

  9. 9

    REMOVE from pan

  10. 10

    COOL on wire rack
