Soft Christmas Cookies
Classic soft cut-out butter cookies for Christmas, sprinkled with homemade colored decorating sugar and lightly golden at the edges.
Ingredients
- 3 0.8 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 0.5 cup white sugar
- 2 whole eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cup colored decorating sugar
Instructions

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.

Gradually blend in sifted ingredients. Cover dough and chill for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease cookie sheets. On a floured surface, roll out small portions of chilled dough to 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut out shapes using cookie cutters. Sprinkle with decorator sparkling sugar.

Bake 6-8 minutes until edges are barely brown. Cool on wire racks.
