- 48 caramels ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 ½ cups oatmeal
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- ¾ cup cream or evaporated milk 1 ½ cups flour
- ¾ teaspoon soda
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.

Remove the remaining chilled dough from the refrigerator and crumble it evenly over the caramel.

Return the pan to the oven and bake until the filling is bubbly and the crumbled shortbread topping is firm and lightly golden, about 25 – 30 minutes.
