Asian Country Ribs

- 2 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp white vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 0.3 tsp five-spice powder
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 4 lb country-style pork ribs, cut into individual pieces

In a 3½-quart slow cooker, stir together ketchup, honey, vinegar, soy sauce, five-spice powder, onion, ginger, and garlic.

Broil ribs on a rack 6 inches from heat, turning once, until browned on both sides, about 10 minutes.

Transfer browned ribs to slow cooker and stir to coat with sauce.

Cover and cook on LOW 5–6 hours until ribs are very tender.

Transfer ribs to a platter. Mix cornstarch with 1 tsp cold water; stir into sauce in cooker. Cook on HIGH 10 minutes to thicken.

Spoon sauce over ribs. Serve with hot cooked rice.
